Saves can hold up to 8 goalies in our Burlington center. All work is done on Viking ice (synthetic ice). There is no better surface for a goaltender to train on. Synthetic ice improves leg strength, foot speed and most of all, body control. During classes we stress upon intensity, endurance, balance, and game speed.

Saves supplies a staff member to come directly to your teams practices to work with you goaltenders in their own team environment. Saves can implement a custom program to suit the needs of the goalies. There are no special requirements involved. All practices are made with and around the coaches planning. During the Direct to Practice (DTP) we focus on crease movement, foot speed, angles, reading the play, focusing and aggressiveness.

If interested Saves Goaltending can setup an on ice clinic where all the goalies can attend a class within certain age groups. During these clinics, we work with your goaltenders on everything from basic to complex situations, with the mind set of both intensity and endurance.

Saves goaltending provides game evaluations, where we evaluate the goalies during a game were we will look at and rate the following topics.

Physical attributes: Courage, physical strength, stamina, reflexes.

Emotional and Mental attributes: Maturity, composure, leadership, work ethic, focus, concentration, consistency.

Skating attributes: Balance, quickness, mobility, forward, backward and lateral movement including shuffles, foot speed, and pivoting into the play).

Technical attributes: Style definition, save selection, and stance and readiness.

Positioning attributes: Angles, positioning and play making. Controlling rebounds and tips. As well as keeping the body square.

Hands and Stick: Controls the puck with either hand, Stick and blocker saves, stick handling and passing, catching, controlling and freezing pucks.

Saves goaltending will attend your try-outs, and evaluate the goaltenders present for your team. Saves will offer both the insight and ranking of each goaltender, and present it to the coaches. Also, Saves can suggest what goaltender would be most suitable for the team, after watching and evaluating (see in game evaluations) each goalie throughout the course of try-outs. Furthermore, if requested, Saves will be able to suggest students that attend our school for teams that may require a goalie.

Shooting Lessons

1 Hour lesson
We cover all aspects of shooting.
ie. wrist shot, snap shot, slap shot back hand and so on.

Saves trains one or two goalies for duration of 60 minutes in our training centre. In the 60 minutes we cover all technical aspects of goaltending and conditioning at a very intense level. These sessions are customized to meet the needs of the individual goaltender. There are 2 instructors with the students at all times during the duration of the 60 minutes, this gives us the ability to offer programs with true game skills including rebounds, cross ice passes, one timers, screens, angles, multiple shooting sequences and much more. During private lessons Saves focuses on three main points Technical skills (form and moves), Speed (Leg and hands), and Strength.
